Discussion Questions

Cinderella Reflection/Discussion Questions:

The main question each week is IN WHAT WAYS DOES THIS FILM INTERSECT WITH THE GOSPEL? HOW DID THE GOSPEL SPEAK THROUGH THIS FILM TO YOU?

The following questions have been prepared in anticipation of (but not limited to) what will be discussed in worship Sunday February 9th:

1. In the parable, Jesus teaches about choosing the lowest place at a banquet to be exalted. How does Cinderella's humble service to the mice, birds, and even her stepfamily mirror this principle of humility and honor?

2. Cinderella is mistreated and overlooked by her family, yet she continues to serve with kindness. How can we learn from her example in our own lives, especially when we feel underappreciated or overlooked? How does this relate to the scripture's teaching on humility?

3. The parable speaks about inviting the poor, crippled, lame, and blind to a banquet, while Cinderella’s kindness is extended to those who have no means to repay her. How do Cinderella's relationships with the mice, the animals, and even the stepsisters reflect this teaching on selfless service?

4. In the movie, Cinderella is ultimately exalted and finds her place of honor, despite her initial low status. How does her journey of transformation in the movie echo the message in the parable that those who humble themselves will be exalted?

5. The stepsisters and stepmother in Cinderella are often focused on status and personal gain, which leads to their downfall. How does this contrast with Cinderella’s actions, and how does the parable challenge us to think about our own motivations in seeking honor or recognition?
